SROFG History
Year 1991 is the birth of the SROFG inside PNP-SAF Headquarters and Training Facilities known such as Camp Castaneda (now PNPA), Silang, Cavite, Philippine Army’s Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, and Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig, Metro Manila now Taguig City. Sergeant Rico Oca Friendship Games (SROFG) is founded and formalized by Police Officer I Rico Oca while serving under the command of two commanders, Col. Vidal Querol (PMA) and Col. Leopoldo Bataoil (PMA) both 2nd Battalion Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP SAF) Commanders based in Camp Bagong Diwa. The first name of this organization was Law Enforcers Karate Club PNP SAF (LEKC- PNP SAF Chapter) founded by POI Oca. LEKC PNP SAF Chapter is affiliated to LEKC International founded by President and Founder SPO1 Giovanni Guarino of the Manila Police Department since 1983 with the National Headquarters of then Pope Pius Catholic Center located at United Nation Avenue Street, Manila, Philippines. LEKC PNP SAF Chapter founder Rico Oca trained 15 PNP-SAF troopers and 5 civilian personnel to prepare and participate for the 5th LEKC Inter Chapter Karate Tournament held in Pope Pius Catholic Center on 1991 at UN Avenue, Ermita, Manila with the whole-hearted support by then officials of 2nd Battalion headed by Col. Vidal Querol then to Col. Bataoil with some of his LEKC PNP-SAF Karate advisers namely Police Maj. Basngi (PMA), Police Cpt. Colinio (PNPA), Police Lt. Fernandez (PNPA), Police Lt. Coyme (PNPA), and Police Lt. Yu (PMA). SAF trooper won the championship trophy (received by Cpt. Colinio) on team competition and POI Oca garnered 3rd Place for Individual Black Belt Competition. Championship trophy for Individual Competition was won by Erick Simbulan of LEKC Headquarters and 2nd place won by a blackbelt from LEKC Pacita Complex Chapter, San Pedro, Laguna. Few months after, founder Oca was reassigned to Camp Sikatuna Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao along with 2nd Batallion troopers for combat and election duty for first ARMM election headed by Police Col. Leopoldo Bataoil (PMA), 2nd Battalion Commander, PNP SAF and Provincial Commander Brigadier General Magomnang of Cotabato City. POI Oca was reassigned to Cubao Police station 7, CPDC under the command of Police Lt. Col Cipriano Querol Jr (PMA) of Police Station 7, Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City.  The year of 1995-1996, POI Oca re-established and renamed LEKC PNP SAF Chapter to SROFG to concentrate on different fields of sports but unluckily, he ended up to a single tournament.
